CASE UPDATES

Brauer v. Kmart: Karen Brauer is the pharmacist who was fired for refusing to dispense abortifacients. As of this writing, the trial date has been moved. On Nov. 5, a trial is scheduled.

Hyman v. Louisville: Dr. Hyman is suing the City of Louisville about a special rights for homosexuals ordinance codenamed a fairness ordinance. The case was dismissed by the District Court.   That decision was appealed to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. The case has not yet been heard.

  Phillips v. Missouri: Mr. Phillips was fired by the Missouri Department of Social Services for refusing to license homosexual couples as foster parents. We won part of the case in trial in October, 1999. The state appealed. Frank Manion argued our side before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals on April 11, 2001. We won this appeal and the Circuit Court denied the State's appeal for an En Banc rehearing. They have not yet filed for Grant of Certiori.

Murphy v. New Milford, CT: The Murphy family has been forbidden to hold prayer meetings (They pray the rosary) in their own home by local zoning officials. The CLJI is defending this Catholic family's right to pray. We have won a temporary injunction against the Zoning officials.
