A Generation of Death

A Word from the Executive Director, Thomas Patrick Monaghan

A generation ago, in an unconstitutional and evil act, seven judges on the Supreme Court chose to chart this nation on a course of death by ordering that the murdering of a child must be a matter of supposed indifference to the law. Given that sometimes abuses are often better suffered than that established order be overthrown, still in this instance, we the people, have been seduced by the glamour of evil.
We are the children of the unwanted of every nation who crossed oceans and ice flows when the seas were wider than the stars are now far. As exile, bondsman, and slave we came to this land of plenty and here God has blessed us abundantly.

In this time of our wealth and power a faction has arisen among us who declare against all our common humanity and history that men and women may break faith with one another and a mother may kill her child to the approval of the crowd. And we under the spell of self-indulgence have equivocated and compromised ourselves. As the blood dimmed tide of murdered infants laps at our being, we do not know what to do in this grip of evil. The way out we do not see.

Boldly this faction proclaims there is no such thing as man, woman, child, and community but rather there is only the self; and around pillars of murder and perversion, our citizenry becomes a brutish mob lost to reason. The way out we do not see.

Our institutions of self-governance presuppose a virtuous people whose souls are confirmed in self control and our liberty in law not licence, but now a blood dimmed tide of murdered infants laps at our very being. We do not know what to do in the grip of this evil. The way out we do not see.

In babel and pride we revel before the goddesses of success whom we placate with the blood of our own children, yet the very coin of our realm proclaims IN GOD WE TRUST. Thus, we blasphemously invoke His blessings as we mock, kill, and brutalize His creation. The way out we do not see.

God declares to us that He sets before us life or death, blessing or curse. "Choose life," God tells us that we and our children may live. Our governing faction has chosen death. The way out we do not see.

That our ancient demonic enemy would wait like a dragon to devour the child is no new revelation to us.

Israel fled to Egypt for sustenance, but there they became slaves, and children were killed for the self claimed security of a governing faction, before in the providence of God the children of Israel were delivered from bondage.

The Canaanites, in the time of Gideon, murdered children for the self claimed security of their governing faction.

Herod, like Pharoah, murdered children and sought to kill the Child for the self claimed security of his governing faction. Again, a flight to Egypt for sanctuary.

Carthage murdered children for the self claimed security of their governing faction.

The Mayans murdered children for the self claimed security of their governing faction.

Now we too murder children at the behest of our governing faction for our self claimed security. The way out we do not see.

Though we are in that time when a mother forgets her child, God will not forget us and in His providence we too will be delivered from this bondage of sin and evil. The task before us is to be humble and prayerful in the face of this monstrous evil. We must not take part in the great public lie that abortion is, but rather in charity for all let us sustain one another while there is still time. We do not know whether we are in the time of the green wood or the dry, but we do know that this will pass and once again we like Joseph and Mary will hear that those who sought to kill the child are no more.

We in the pro-life movement must be thankful with a new birth of joy in ourselves for all we have been spared and are being spared. God in His mercy has graced us with forgiveness and delivered us from murdering. The portion given to us — to stand with the child in this time of demonic deceit and death — is truly a gift of glory to us from God.
